| Homework | | General Guidelines/Expectations. About one hour of homework a night. On occasion the homework may not be a good match for the student’s capacity at that time. After an effort of an hour, the student may stop without finishing.
Competing Schedules. Send a note if your family’s schedule makes homework completion impossible. The work must be completed over the weekend.
General Directions for Essay Writing: Students must turn in 1.) Mind Map (about fifteen minutes) 2.) First Draft, edited (about twenty-five minutes) 3.) Final Draft (about twenty minutes). Parent editing of first draft recommended. Students may not simply rewrite the first draft as a final draft without improving it. In the beginning, the process may take longer than an hour. If it takes more than an hour and a half, simply stop and I'll accept the student's effort as it is. Turn in all three parts, stapled if possible. Make sure the name is on the top sheet.
General Directions for Spelling Connections Workbook: Students should do the first four pages: Spelling and Thinking, Spelling and Vocabulary, Spelling and Reading, and Spelling and Writing (skip the writing activity at the bottom of the page).
