This is my 23rd year teaching. What I love most about teaching is the art of matching students with the work that is right for them. I also think kids are a lot of fun to be around. I received my Montessori training in Bergamo, Italy in 1984-85, and my state certification in 1991-92 at St. Kate's. I'm a published writer—poetry and articles about Montessori education. Before Montessori, I had a background in literature, with an M.A. from the University of Wisconsin—Milwaukee. Recently, I've designed a material for teaching literature according to Montessori principles. See www.montessorilitlines.com

J.J. Hill has been one of the best things that ever happened to me. I was hired in 1989 and I've been here ever since. We have a great staff because of our shared commitment to the Montessori methodology, and because we learn new things together well. We have a great school because of effective administration and the level of parent involvement and support.
My son Peter is twenty-two and on his way to becoming a nurse. My wife Margaret Todd Maitland is a writer and a teacher at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design.
